The Guam Head Start Program has extended their recruitment period and continues to accept applications for SY 2017-2018.
What is the Guam Head Start Program?
The Guam Head Start Program provides education, health, nutrition and social services to children and their families that support SCHOOL READINESS AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT. Children’s development is enhanced in center-based setting and parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s education and in the community through home visits, family partnership agreements and volunteering. Bussing services are provided to Head Start children by the Division of Bus Operations of the Department of Public Works (with some exceptions).
Who Should Apply?
Families that meet the income guidelines and have a child who is:
5 years old (born August 1 to December 31, 2012)
4 years old (born January 1 to December 31, 2013)
3 years old (born January 1 to July 31, 2014)
Families currently receiving TANF or SSI with an age eligible child
Families with an age eligible child having a current IEP from GDOE’s Division of Special Education

Who can register a child? (Child is not required to be present)
Household Parents
Household Legal Guardians appointed through the court must register child
What do I need to bring? (As it applies to your family)
Child’s Birth Certificate (original or official stamped copy)
Child’s Immunization Card (shot record)
Child’s Social Security card
Legal documents relating to guardianship, child custody, restraining orders, or name changes
Marriage Certificate or Divorce Decree when parent’s name is different from child’s birth certificate or parent’s ID Cards
Verification of earned and unearned income for the last 12 months of Household Parents and Guardians to include but not limited to the following: 2016 W2 or Income Tax forms; check stubs from 2016-2017, Public Health Certification, Child Support, Financial Aid, Social Security benefits, GHURA Utility Reimbursements, LES for military (monthly)
Statement of Support for all household parents and guardians with no source of income within the past 12 months
Unemployment Verification for all household parents and guardians unemployed for a total of 6 or more months within the past 12 months
Current IEP documents from GDOE’s Division of Special Education
